The International Fight League is the world's first team-based professional mixed martial arts organization. The IFL World Team Championship event will take place at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland November 2nd. Local favorite Matt Lindland will lead his Portland Wolfpack into battle against Bas Rutten's L.A. Anacondas, and Pat Miletich's Silverbacks take on the Carlos Newton's Dragons in the other World Team Championship Semi-Final Matchup. As a bonus, Mark Kerr will battle Mike Whitehead and Allan Goes will see Daniel Gracie in the night's two Superfights. Unbridled Martial Arts has several vouchers to give away for free to students who would like to go. Each voucher is redeemable at the venue for 2 complimentary tickets. Based on student interest and schedule availability, Corrections Deputy Robert Ellsworth makes himself available to the members of UMA. His expertise is scenario-based training, and his input is to address practical self-defense tactics at the close-quarter range.

Deputy Ellsworth’s classes are not exclusively designed for
women, yet it should be recognized that this is the distance at which
most assaults take place against women. Ellsworth has a wealth of
knowledge. He personalizes his teaching to the students’ needs
and incorporates not just the physical but also the psychological
components of confrontations in to his workshops. |

THE MAX HIGBEE RECREATIONAL CENTER

In
addition to organizing & instructing the Unbridled Martial
Arts school, I do volunteer work teaching an adaptive Karate
class to the participants of the Max Higbee Recreational Center, Friday
nights at 6:15pm. The center is a local nonprofit organization providing
recreational opportunities to people with developmental disabilities
in Bellingham. |
