UMA takes pride in our no contracts policy. However, martial artists who train regularly make progress faster and contribute more to the club. For that reason, beginning in March 2012 we are changing our fee structure.

We are encouraging regular participation by rewarding dedicated students: for students who train twice a week, your fee will not change!

Beginning March 2012 the minimum donation will be $50/ month.

For every week a student attends at least 2 of 3 evening classes, they get $5 back, as long as they attend a class during the last week of the month.

Same flat rate policy. Members pay $50 the first class of each month they attend.
Months that end midweek, club members get their money back the last class of the month, but their credit for THAT week will apply to the next month.

Escrima gear required: Stick, Headgear, Hand protection

Beginning January 2012, the weapons class will focus on all-stick-sparring.

To participate, a student must own one 28-inch “ActionFlex” escrima stick to spar with.

Actionflex sticks duplicate the sensation of rattan sticks. They allow us full-contact sparring with a rigid weapon at combative speeds. Actionflex is a brand used and endorsed by many escrima educators in the world today.

Students who wish to participate in the weapons class must also own and use headgear and hand protection. This requires headgear with a facemask and some type of right-handed glove (suggested: hockey-style).

Our club account affords students to get Actionflex sticks and headgear at 25% – 50% off regular price. If you do not have the required equipment, you will need to wait on the sideline so that those who are sparring have adequate room to move. Or if you are sharing a stick, the same thing applies. If you are not sparring, you are off the floor.

Do you ever shop on Amazon.com and discover you spent more than you intended just to save on shipping?

Ever go shopping and find out you missed a sale? Or to get a good deal you need to put your purchase on hold and wait for the upcoming sale? Or worst of all, you don’t have that measly slip of paper (coupon) that entitles you to a discount?

Follow that up with a feeling like you’re getting screwed because you aren’t a student so you don’t receive the best rate possible? Are other people getting a discounted group rate just because a relative or a spouse is included? Personally, I hate that shit.

Well, you needn’t be in the military, a college student, or married with offspring to qualify for the best deal possible.

I will always give the benefits of martial arts training equally across the board no matter who you are or what your status is. I find it unfair and a tedious trick to have gimmicky sales and limited time offers or special rates that make you spend more just to save a little, or favors one group over another.
